A Cut Above
I visited the North Down Craft Collective in Holywood last month and came across Emma Davidson of E&D Workroom who creates multi layer personalised papercut illustrations. If you missed her exhibition in Ards Crafts here is your chance to catch a glimpse of her amazing work.
A jewellery maker by trade Emma has changed her focus to paper cutting intricate layers to build up 3d images. Her work includes colouful 3D illustrations for children bedroom inspired by decorating her own daughters bedroom which can be personalised. These range in theme from circus, fairytale, animals to robots and make excellent birthday or baby presents. All the images are based on Emma's original designs ensuring you own a unique piece of art. Click any of the thumbnails to enlarge!
Her work extends to the grown ups too with her original watercolour turned into a jasmine heart
Lately her work has stretched to elaborate white paper birds in frames but for me her most interesting work is her 3D paper sculptures in bell jars. What sets her apart from other papercut artists is the three dimesional layered effect she can create. These would make excellent additions to any mantelpiece especially on a dark feature wall. The framed birds are double sided and designed that way so they can become part of a room divider.
